Slot machines are on their way to Mission.
Council has unanimously voted to pass third reading on a bylaw that will allow zoning amendments to be made to Boardwalk Gaming Centre at 7178 Horne St.
Those amendments will mean the bingo hall will be expanded to a community gaming centre that will feature 50 slot machines.
Horn said there are 16 charities in Mission that benefit from the gaming-centre proceeds.
The district will receive 10 per cent of the net income from the slot machines, an amount that has been estimated at $250,000 a year. Funds will be doled out through the bingo association, said Horn.
